Landscape Photographer of the Year 2013 Winners Announced

As a Canadian of Dutch heritage who spent his childhood in South Africa, it may seem a somewhat unusual to say that my heart is in Britain. Since my book-dependent youth, almost all my interests have been influenced by British authors, writers of fiction and non-fiction alike. I won’t bore with the details, only to say that the ‘Take a View’ Landscape Photographer of the Year 2013 winners have been announced, and the photographs are excellent. Click the link above to see the official page, but see larger photos at The Guardian. Unfortunately, I cannot share the photos here, as they have rather archaic protections in place, but do take a look at the many stunning images–you won’t be disappointed. My favourite is the excellently composed and timed image by Bob McCallion called Mystical Morning, The Dark Hedges, taken in County Antrim, N Ireland.

Great choice. I also liked Vale of Mist. There was something Asian in the spare repetitive pattern of treetops in the background.
